eastham farmers market http://targetship.org/2025/03/09/eastham-farmers-market/ http://targetship.org/2025/03/09/eastham-farmers-market/#respond Sun, 09 Mar 2025 17:56:17 +0000 https://targetship.org/?p=229 From the Provincetown Independent (2025 Mar 5):

Eastham Gets a Farmers Market by Parker Mumford

The old T-Time driving range will be the site of a new town-run farmers market set to operate from mid-June to Labor Day.

The select board on March 3 approved a set of market rules, including that vendors “shall sell agricultural, horticultural, or food items that they themselves have grown”; they’ll need approval from the market manager to sell baked goods and other processed foods. Vendors must also provide tents, tables, and chairs and have insurance.

The fee for participation is $285 for 12 weeks in a 10-by-10 space, or $142.50 for 6 weeks, plus $25 per market.

“When we were thinking about interim uses for T-Time, this seemed like a great fit,” said Assistant Town Manager Rich Bienvenue. He told the board that Eastham’s administrative coordinator Mira Milkova was behind the initiative. “She goes to lots of farmers markets, and she has a lot of contacts,” Bienvenue said. Milkova will be the farmers market manager.

“People have been asking me, ‘Why isn’t there a farmers market in Eastham?’ ” Milkova told the board. “I was very honored when Rich told me I could help.” —

changes to dispatch services in Eastham http://targetship.org/2025/03/06/eastham-partners-with-barnstable-county-sheriffs-regional-emergency-communications-center/ http://targetship.org/2025/03/06/eastham-partners-with-barnstable-county-sheriffs-regional-emergency-communications-center/#respond Thu, 06 Mar 2025 11:42:00 +0000 https://targetship.org/?p=232 Press Release : Mar 5, 2025

The Town of Eastham and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office are pleased to announce that effective March 17, 2025, all Eastham 9-1-1 emergency calls and Eastham Fire/EMS dispatch services will transition to the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Regional Emergency Communications Center.

The transition to the BCSO Regional Emergency Communications Center will allow Eastham to benefit from improved technology, greater coordination among regional public safety agencies, and more streamlined operations for handling emergency calls and dispatching Fire/EMS services. The BCSO Emergency Communications Center is equipped with state-of-the-art systems and staffed by trained professionals who provide prompt and accurate emergency response.

This change will not affect emergency response times or the quality of the public safety service provided to Eastham residents and visitors. Individuals in the Town of Eastham should continue dialing 9-1-1 for any and all emergencies.  The Eastham Fire Department will continue to operate as usual, with the BCSO Emergency Communications Center handling the dispatch and coordination efforts.  The Eastham Police Department will retain the current Eastham Dispatch Staff, who will now focus on dispatching solely for the police department.

Grief 101

Thursday March 6th @ 2 PM

Grief is a natural response to loss. Yet many bereaved people report feeling misunderstood and abandoned by their friends and communities due to a lack of education about the needs of the grieving.

On Thursday, March 6th at 2 pm, grief support counselors from Sharing Kindness will present Grief 101, a program that covers “the basics” of grief: what it is, how it impacts our brains and bodies, and how we can support people in our lives who are going through it.

Registration is welcomed, but not required. To register, contact Marianne Sinopoli at msinopoli@clamsnet.org or 508-240-5950 ext 3132.
