upcoming inclement weather

From the Eastham Police Department:

Good morning, Eastham! The Eastham Emergency Management Team has been closely monitoring a storm what will be developing later this weekend. As with most coastal storms, there is still much uncertainty with the storm’s intensity level and exact track.

Here is what we know now:

  • A Nor’easter type storm will develop off the Carolina Coast early this weekend and move up towards our area.
  • Rain will spread into our area on Sunday and potentially continue for several days.
  • Winds will increase on Sunday and continue into early next week.
  • On-shore winds could cause large surf, coastal flooding, and beach erosion.
  • With trees still full of leaves, it is possible that falling trees and/or limbs could cause power outages.

The Eastham Emergency Management Team will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate steps to respond to any emergencies that arise. The next couple of days would be a good time to secure any loose items in your yard, clear any storm drains around your property, prepare for possible power outages, and take appropriate action if you are in a flood prone area.

We will share additional information as we receive it throughout the weekend.
