sat 6 sep 2025: history bike ride

Learn about the history of Eastham by bike and enjoy the natural beauty between Cape Cod Bay and the National Seashore on this five-mile bike ride. We will see the lasting imprint of the glacial age on this part of the Cape, discuss the Nauset tribe and their interaction with natural resources and the first settlers, and learn about the development of Eastham with a visit to centuries-old historic sites such as the oldest structure in Eastham, the Windmill. We will wrap up the bike tour with a stop at the 1869 Eastham Schoolhouse Museum which displays artifacts from Eastham’s Native American history and shipwreck days and features the one-room schoolhouse complete with original schoolmaster’s desk. All ages are welcome to join this biking event! Meet at First Encounter Beach parking lot; helmets are required, children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult, and no training wheels or children’s tricycles permitted.
